Chamber of Commerce launch new mentoring scheme to support Edinburgh businesses
The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce set up a programme to offer specialist mentoring to businesses in the capital.
In response to rising demand for valuable and practical support for businesses, the chamber is to run a brand new business mentoring programme open to any business with a desire to grow and develop.
The programme will use a specially designed digital platform identifying an individual’s business objectives before pairing each mentee with a carefully matched mentor who has relevant skills and experience.
Those people being mentored will receive support from someone with experience who can offer their personal expertise, inspiration and practical advice on a one-to-one basis. This is all intended to help organisations overcome any potential barriers to growth. The chamber also hopes that the mentors will benefit from the experience too.
Jimmy O’Connell, Head of Operations and Business Support at the Edinburgh Chamber
said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has brought in to focus the need for meaningful and practical support in the business community. Many leaders, particularly in smaller businesses, have been forced to face challenging situations and decisions alone. We hope our mentoring programme can provide businesses with a friendly and supportive figure who can offer advice and expertise when needed.
“Further to this, our programme will offer businesses with real ambition the support they need to flourish and thrive. Engaging with the mentoring scheme will help businesses to develop their strategy whilst exploiting new opportunities for growth.
“As a Chamber, we have over 20 years’ experience in running mentoring schemes, however this year we are delighted to be launching a bespoke digital platform to enhance the mentoring experience while ensuring the service can be delivered seamlessly online. Supporting business is central to the Chamber’s purpose and mission and we look forward to working with many exciting organisations in the months to come.”
