Appeal after hamster abandoned at recycling centre on Old Dalkeith Road

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a hamster was abandoned at the recycling centre on Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh at around midday on 11 August.

Scottish SPCA inspector John Toule said, “We are looking to speak to the person responsible for abandoning this animal.

“The hamster was left in a clean cage with food and water. He had no visible signs of illness or injury.

“He is now in the care of one of our animal rescue centres and appears to be in good health.

“Although we appreciate that the owner left the hamster in a public place where he would be found, this is not the correct procedure to follow if you wish to give up an animal for rehoming.

“We are keen to trace the owner and if anyone in the area recognises this hamster, we would ask they call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
