St Mirren 1 Heart of Midlothian 0

Ladbrokes Premiership – Wednesday 11th March 2020 – Simple Digital Arena

Hearts slipped closer to the relegation trapdoor after an insipid performance against St Mirren in a game manager Daniel Stendel had said Hearts daren’t lose. A goal early in the second half from Obika was enough to give the Buddies all three points and move them six clear of Hearts.

The Maroons are now four points adrift at the bottom of the league and with the teams around them in the relegation zone picking up points recently it’s difficult to see Hearts not having to prepare for the Ladbrokes Championship next season.

Stendel named an unchanged Hearts team from the one which drew with Motherwell on Saturday – a rare event. But Hearts were lacklustre all evening with just one shot on target the whole 90 minutes.

Obika’s goal came three minutes into the second half and Hearts rarely looked like salvaging a point.

Hearts now face a difficult trip to Livingston on Sunday and given the West Lothian side’s recent form it’s difficult to see Stendel’s team getting anything from the game.
