Film Preview: March 2020
New material for a spring collection is coming to a cinema near you in March.
Released on 6 March 2020, ‘Onward’ is the 22nd feature film from Pixar.
Featuring a voice cast that includes Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Enough Said) and Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures), this computer-animated fantasy focuses on two teenage brothers who complete a magical quest in under 24 hours.
Almost two years ago, the science fiction horror ‘A Quiet Place’ grossed just over $340million worldwide on a production budget of up to only $21million and currently holds a 95% approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
So the stakes are high for its sequel ‘A Quiet Place: Part II’, which opens on 19 March 2020, to do just as well as its predecessor. John Krasinski returns at writer/director while Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns) reprises her Screen Actors Guild Award winning role.
Another computer animation, this time from DreamWorks, will be ‘Trolls World Tour’ which is due for release on 20 March 2020. A sequel to the 2016 film ‘Trolls’, which won a Grammy and received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for its original song ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling!’, features Justin Timberlake (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Anna Kendrick (Twilight) reprising their leading voice roles.
On 27 March 2020, ‘Mulan’ marks the 16th Disney live-action remake of its animated films in just over 25 years. An additional 13 are in various stages of development.
