A new ‘Little’ wedding venue

Planning a church wedding? Have a Little’s wedding……

Little’s Restaurant, located in the former Riverside Methodist Church at Rattray, Blairgowrie, has hosted its very first wedding.

Local couple Janice and Kerr Coventry, chose the converted Church, notable for one of the most unique stained glass windows in Britain, as the venue for their intimate ceremony, enjoying a wedding breakfast in Little’s afterwards with family and friends.

“Clearly this historic Church will have hosted many a wedding in its time,” said Littles chef and proprietor, Willie Little. “But this is the first during its new life as a working restaurant. Janice and Kerr came to us and asked if they could marry here, and we were delighted to oblige, as this is a sector we would like to move into. We have always wanted to share this fantastic building, which we have brought back to life, with others.”

“Willie added: “It’s such an inspiring space, and we can give those marrying here exclusive use of the whole restaurant. We’d like to thank Janice and Kerr for choosing us, and for sharing their wedding images with us. It’s been a real highlight for myself and my staff to witness their nuptials, and we are sure there will be more weddings and events to come.”

Little’s Restaurant has now been in the formerly disused Church for two years, recently finding out that it is nominated once again for Restaurant of the Year in the Courier Menu Food & Drink Awards, having secured the Runner Up position last year.

Designed by renowned stained glass artist Anning Bell, the larger central window in Little’s is the only one in the UK dedicated to the role of the Labour Corps in WW1. Soldiers from the Corps were stationed in Blairgowrie during the war.

Since its exposure to a new audience through the restaurant, the window has had coverage on STV, and has had renewed interest from local heritage groups keen to unearth more on its history, as well as on the Church itself.
