Elite League: Fife Flyers 2, Nottingham Panthers 3; Dundee Stars 5, Cardiff Devils 2

Brian Connelly struck 17 seconds from time to break Fife Flyers. The Kirkcaldy club, who prop up the ten-strong Elite League, led 2-0 after seven minutes but were eventually edged out 3-2.

Jordan Buesa opened the scoring after two minutes and Carlo Finucci made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Georgs Golovkovs replied after nine minutes and Brett Perlini levelled on the power play after 37 minutes.

The game looked to be going into sudden death overtime when 33-year-old, American-born offensive defenceman Connelly struck.

Lowly Dundee Stars dented Cardiff Devils’ Elite League title bid when the Tayside team won 5-2.

Stars, who had lost their last two games, led 3-0 thanks to goals from Egils Kalns after 1min 55sec, Kevin Dufour on the power play five minutes later and Matthew Carter after 26 minutes with Cardiff having a man in the sin bin.

Devils battled back with two goals from Gleason Fournier after 28 minutes and 48 minutes, the second on the power play, but Stars were not to be denied.

Anthony Beauregard netted with 50 minutes on the clock and captain Matt Marquardt scored on an empty net with 1min 3sec left after Devils gambled by withdrawing their netminder.
