Staycity open their newest location in the Grassmarket
Go Wilde at the new aparthotel on King’s Stables Road.
This is the latest location which operator Staycity has opened just today and adds to the private company’s properties in Dublin and elsewhere in Europe.
There are 128 studio, one and two bed apartments in the prime city centre location with great views up to Edinburgh Castle.
The site is of course historic and has been carefully refurbished to blend old and new. The courtyard is paved with 100,000 Caithness stones to create a 15th century jousting ground, much as it would have been in the time of King James IV.
Wilde general manager Tony Horan explained : “Every step of the design and build has been carefully planned to preserve the site’s history while blending it into a contemporary and stylish scheme, which is the essence of the Wilde brand.
“Edinburgh Castle itself has very much dictated the design of the property, with 60 of the apartments having a view directly out onto this impressive historic landmark, while the other rooms overlook the stunning courtyard.”
All suites and apartments have XL-sized beds with Hypnos mattresses, Grohe rainfall showers and lovely bed linen. To make it a home from home for business guests and tourists there is a well-equipped kitchen with Nespresso machine.
With a gym, laundry, lounge area, 24-hour reception and self check-in this is a place to stay for one night or many. You can get something to eat and drink all day long with pastries from a nearby bakery and hot food from the kitchen. Buy your own pasta sauce from the pantry and cook for yourself if you prefer.
There is 24 hour parking nearby and of course the apartments are located near bus and tram.
Wilde is Dublin-based Staycity’s premium concept inspired by the wit and irreverence of Irish playwright and poet Oscar Wilde. The first Wilde property was opened in London’s Covent Garden in April 2018, with the second opening in Berlin this November. The brand’s ethos is based around the fusion of superior design with touches of the unexpected offering space for guests to escape, relax, cook and work in creative interiors.
