Man convicted of killing his brother

A 30-year-old man has been convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh of the culpable homicide of his brother in the north west of the city last year.
Steven Loughton was found guilty following a trial for the killing of Roddy Loughton which took place within an address in Muirhouse Terrace, where both men had been staying.
Officers and emergency services were called to the flat in the early hours of the morning on Monday, 17 December, 2018.
Roddy Loughton, 26, was found inside with serious head injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Steven Loughton was arrested a short time later.
Detective Inspector Bruce Coutts, the senior investigating officer, said: “Our thoughts remain with Roddy Loughton’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Violence has no place in society and we will continue to work alongside our partners to ensure that the perpetrators of violent crime are brought before the courts.”
Steven Loughton is due to be sentenced at Glasgow High Court on 3 February 2020
