Rasmus Bjerrum scored on an empty net as Glasgow Clan maintained pole position in the Elite League.

The 28-year-old Danish winter struck with 55 seconds left to finally blunt Sheffield Steelers who led the table earlier in the season and are still in the top four.

Clan won the first session 3-2 and the second 3-1 but the men from The House of Steel tied the third period 2-2.

Scott Pitt netted a double for the home side in the welcome win after their 6-4 defeat at Fife Flyers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Fife Flyers survived all that Cardiff Devils could throw at them for nearly 50 minutes of a bruising clash in the Principality.

But Fife, who thrashed the Welsh combine 5-1 at The Fife Ice Arena in their only previous clash this season, let it slip inside the last 11 minutes as three goals ended in their net as Devils won 3-0 to the delight of their fans and the disappointment of Flyers’ coach Todd Dutiaume (pictured).

They had to wait until mid-way through the final stanza to salute the goal which broke the deadlock in a tense tussle in Wales in front of 2,843 supporters at The Viola Arena.

And it was Joey Martin who finally broke through after being set up by Sean McMonagle and Joey Haddad.

The goal came after Fife netminder Adam Morrison was called for a tripping penalty and Flyers were down to four skaters.

And Stephen Dixon made it 2-0 after being set-up by Charles Linglet and Matt Pope just over a minute later.

Four minutes later Pope turned from provider into scorer with No 3, engineered by defenceman Gleason Fournier and Mike McNamee on the power play. Time 54min 41sec.
