Hibs hope to have new Head Coach by end of month

Hibs’ Chief Executive Leeann Dempster

Hibs’ Chief Executive Leeann Dempster is hoping to have a
new Head Coach installed by the end of November but insists that the club will
take their time to find the right person.

Paul Heckingbottom and Robbie Stockdale were sacked earlier
this week after a dismal start to the season and since then the hunt has been
on to find their replacements.

Speculation has been growing amongst the fans with a number
of names quoted including bookies’ favourite Jack Ross who previously managed
Alloa Athletic, St Mirren and Sunderland.

Motherwell’s manager Stephen Robinson who led the Lanarkshire
side to third place in the table and two cup finals has also been linked.

Hamilton manager Brian Rice and former striker Derek Riordan
have recommended John ‘Yogi’  Hughes who
was the last manager apart from Neil Lennon to lead the club to a European
place vis their league finish.

Stuart Lovell who played for Hibs under Alex McLeish
suggested former Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel, whilst some fans have suggested
Scottish Cup winning manager Alan Stubbs.

Ms Dempster told Hibernian TV: “This will be the fourth time
we’ve recruited here. The process is ongoing and I’ll lead that, supported by
our new Sporting Director, Graeme Mathie, and our new chairman, Ron Gordon.

“This will be his first opportunity to have that experience
as well. The three of us will be pushing on with that. As we always do, we want
to try and get the appointment right and we’ll take as much time as we need to
do that. I would hope that we’ll have someone in place by the end of the month.

“That would be a loose target. This is my job at the club.

“Sometimes you have to take these decisions. I’m the person
that has to pull this together but I’m supported by a brilliant team so it
won’t just be me on my own. We have some fantastic people behind the scenes who
can help us.”

Eddie May, Grant Murray and Steven Whittaker will take
charge of the team for tomorrow’s game against on-form St Johnstone.
