Speedway – advantage Robins as Wolves hit the skids
SGB Premiership, play-off, semi-final, first-leg: Wolverhampton Wolves 39, Swindon Robins 49
Glasgow Tigers star Claus Vissing, a former Edinburgh Monarchs and Berwick Bandits rider, powered to seven points as Swindon Robins claimed a ten-point advantage going into Thursday’s SGB Premiership, play-off, second-leg, against Wolverhampton Wolves on their own track in Wiltshire.
Another Glasgow star, Rasmus Jensen, scored five points in the 49-39 victory at rain-soaked Monmore Green in the Midlands.
Ex-Edinburgh Monarchs rider Rory Schlein (pictured), a former Scottish Open winner, was best for the home side with ten points with current Edinburgh rider, Sam Masters, next best on eight points.
Wolverhampton were a point ahead at 30-29 after ten races but 5-1 scorelines in Heats 11 and 13 and a 5-0 in Heat 14 proved crucial.
Peter Adams, Wolves’ team manager, said: “It ran away from us in the last few races.”
Alun Rossiter, Swindon’s team manager, said: “Nobody is getting carried away it is only half-time.”
