More ScotRail Seats Added for League Cup Semi-finals

ScotRail has announced it’s adding more seats to its trains to help fans travel to the upcoming Betfred League Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park.

Hibernian take on holders Celtic in the 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday, 2 November, while Hearts play Rangers at 3pm on Sunday, 3 November.

To make the fixtures run smoothly, ScotRail has confirmed it will add more seats to trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida – the closest station to Hampden Park.

The train operator will also operate seven and eight carriages trains between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High for fans travelling from the east.

However, customers heading to the games are advised to allow additional time for travel, as queuing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central prior to kick off, and at Mount Florida after the final whistle.

Extra staff will be on hand to assist customers and, as with most large events, alcohol bans will be in place on both days.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said:

“These are really big games for the teams involved, and we’ll be doing all we can to help fans travel to the match to cheer on their side.

“We’ll be adding extra carriages on services to and from Mount Florida for both fixtures, as well as using seven and eight carriages trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk High.

“However, I’d encourage anyone travelling to the games to allow extra time for travel, and to minimise the need to queue, buy your tickets to Mount Florida in advance on the ScotRail app or website.”
