Hearts slump continues with defeat in Perth
St Johnstone 1 Heart of Midlothian 0
Ladbrokes Premiership – Wednesday 30th October 2019 – McDiarmid
Park
Hearts
slumped further down the Ladbrokes Premiership table this evening with yet
another dismal display in a 1-0 defeat at St Johnstone – who were bottom of the
league before tonight.
An
own goal from Christophe Berra on the hour mark was enough to give the Perth
Saints their second win on the bounce and increase the anger among the
travelling Maroon Army.
Hearts
managed just one shot on target during the entire ninety minutes. In truth, the
home side could have won by a greater margin as Hearts struggled late in the
game.
The
only plus point on another bitter match day for the disillusioned Hearts
support was the return of Jamie Walker from injury, the attacking midfielder
coming on as a second half substitute.
Hearts
are now in second bottom place in the league with only goal difference keeping them
above St Mirren.
Craig
Levein now takes his side to Hampden on Sunday to face Rangers in the Betfred
Cup semi-final. Coming three days after Halloween that is a scary prospect.
