Pubs throughout Scotland asked to submit their top pies
The hunt for Scotland’s best pub pie is under way and hostelries from John o’Groats to Jedburgh, have been asked to enter.
Six judges will taste the entries including Gillian Mackenzie, editor of Scottish Licensed Trade News (SLTN), Emma Mykytyn, editor of Foodie Explorers and food & travel editor for SNACK Magazine, and Ross Traill, head chef of The Bridge Inn at Ratho
Two awards will be presented, Best Pub Pie Award, and the People’s Choice Award voted by the pub-goers on the day.
Rachel Bucknall, owner of the organisers, The Bridge Inn at Ratho, said: “Our regulars love a pie to accompany a good beer.
“They are known as traditional Scottish comfort food which is why we want to celebrate one of the nations favourite dishes.”
The deadline for entries is Friday, 4 October (5 pm) and the top five will be short-listed and judged at a blind tasting event on Thursday, 24 October at The Bridge Inn.
Tickets are on sale at £10 per person in return for five mini pies and a pint of Belhaven Best.
