One in and one out for Hibs during dramatic transfer deadline day

It was one out and one in on yesterday’s transfer deadline
day.

Hibs have concluded the season-long loan signing of Jason
Naismith, subject to international clearance.

The 25-year-old joins us from parent club Peterborough
United, and will be a familiar face to supporters after successful stints with
formative club St Mirren and Ross County.

With club captain David Gray having recently suffered knee
ligament damage and Tom James only just nearing a comeback from his own ankle
injury, the powerful full-back gives the club another option in a key area of
the pitch.

Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom said: “Jason is someone who
knows the league and has done well up here before.

“He’s a competitive player who will add real presence to our
squad.

“Jason also showed his enthusiasm to come and play for
Hibernian by helping push through the deal in time.”

Jason added: “I’m delighted we were able to get the deal
over the line and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“No-one has to tell me how big a club Hibernian are and when
I heard about their interest I didn’t have to think twice.

“I’m looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the boys
this week and getting to work.”

Meanwhile Sean Mackie (pictured) has agreed a season-long loan move to Dundee with the aim of getting regular first-team football at Dens Park before returning to Easter Road in the summer to take the next step in his football development.

He will link up with former Hibs’ captain James McPake, who
is now in charge of the Dark Blues.

A recent Scotland Under-21 call-up, the 20-year-old has
featured four times for the first team so far this season.

Mackie said: “This is a great opportunity for me, and I have
to thank both clubs for getting it through.

“Hibs see it as a chance for me to improve by hopefully
getting regular minutes and I’m grateful to Dundee for showing faith in me.

“I’ve only heard good things about James McPake, who is
obviously highly thought of at Hibs, and I want to do what I can to help the
team push for promotion.”
