Jason Cummings joins Shrewsbury Town

Former Hibs’ Scottish Cup winning striker Jason Cummings has
signed for Shrewsbury Town from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old started 126 games for the Easter Road club
and scored 71 goals before his move to the City Ground in 2017 after helping
the club to the Championship and promotion.

He was given his Hibs’ debut by caretaker manager Jimmy
Nichol and was a regular under Terry Butcher, Alan Stubbs and Neil Lennon.

Unfortunately things didn’t work out as planned at Forest
and many Hibs’ fans were keen to see him return to Easter Road but it was not
to be.

Loan stints at Ibrox, Peterborough United and Luton Town suggested
that Cummings was not wanted at Forest and he is delighted to now have the
chance to kick-start his career with Shrewsbury.

He said: “I’m delighted to be here. I spoke to the gaffer a
few weeks ago and he was really, really keen to get me in.

“That’s half the battle, finding a manager who wants you.

“Obviously, over the last season or so I haven’t played as
much as I would have wanted.

“This season for me is just about playing games, enjoying my
football and scoring goals, and the gaffer says he can help me with that.

“I’ve signed before for clubs where it’s the club that signs
you rather than the manager but, at the end of the day, it’s the manager who
picks the team.

“Sam has shown confidence that he wants me here so when the
chance came up again in the summer it was a no brainer.”
