Hibs plan tribute to Pat Stanton during Celtic game

Following on from the hugely successful night held by the Hibernian Former Players’ Association earlier this month, Scottish football legend Pat Stanton will be honoured by both sets of players in a pre-match guard of honour when Hibs face Celtic on Saturday.

Three of Pat’s grandchildren will join him as mascots for
the day.

Hibs played Celtic in Pat’s testimonial match back in 1978
before a crowd of almost 40,000 people.

Supporters will get their chance to show their appreciation
when Pat makes the half-time Happy Hibee draw and the club are hoping to have a
few special guests alongside him.

There will also be bucket collections inside Easter Road for
two charities that are close to his heart.

Children with Cancer and Leukaemia Advice and Support for
Parents (CCLASP) and Muirfield Riding Therapy both benefited from his night at
the Usher Hall and we hope will do so again, knowing the generosity of our
supporters.

There will be a special edition of The Hibee and the
Clubstore have brand new Pat Stanton mugs, scarves and t-shirts in stock –
which will also be available online.

The Kids Zone in the Famous Five Lower section will
challenge the wee Hibees in attendance to draw their best impression of Pat,
with the best entry winning a flag-bearer position for our next Hibs Kids game
against Ross County on Saturday 26 October.

Chief Executive Leeann Dempster said: “We hear a lot about
‘Hibs Class’ and no-one epitomises that more than Pat Stanton.

“Over the years he has done so much for the club, on and off
the pitch, so we’re looking forward to celebrating his contributions before,
during and after Saturday’s game.

“Pat is always welcome at Easter Road, but we wanted to do
something a bit different and build on the successful night organised by the
Hibernian Former Players’ Association.

“He’s one of our own and I’m sure it will be another special
occasion for everyone concerned.”
