Free ceilidh dancing for all during August at Stramash
Fans of Scottish ceilidh dancing are being encouraged to head along to the Daily
Ceilidh at Stramash during the Fringe Festival.
The popular Cowgate venue is throwing its doors open to dancers of all abilities
every day of the month-long festival.
From Friday 2 August until Friday 30 August 2019 enthusiasts aged 14 and over can take
to the floor every evening between 7pm-9pm. There will be a different band and
caller for every session.
So even if you’re confused by a Canadian Barn Dance or delighted with a Dashing
White Sergeant, Stramash is the place to be to get the blood flowing this
summer!
It’s free entry every night with the list of bands set to perform including: Tweed
Ceilidh Band, Pentland Ceilidh Band, The Big Shoogle, The Ceilidh Experience,
Free Range Ceilidh Band, The Jig Show, Brave Ceilidh Band, Bass Rock Ceilidh
Band and Awry Ceilidh Band.
“We wanted to give as many people as possible the chance to participate in a
ceilidh and experience a popular part of Scotland’s culture,” said Steven
Cosans, Stramash general manager.
“The daily ceilidh is suitable for novices or experienced dancers and doesn’t cost a
penny to get involved.
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what you’re doing – this is the perfect stage
to learn some new moves with pals!
“There is plenty of space if people want to just come and watch but we’re hoping
everyone will fancy trying some dances.”
