1 July Bringing Up Baby is a new exhibition at the Museum of Childhood and runs until 29th September. Free entry. This event explores the choices and challenges faced by parents. Explore a range of objects from the museum’s collection including; Paddi Pad disposable nappies invented by British mum Valerie Hunter Gordon in 1947, Kamella Baby Bag popular in the 1930’s and a charming selection of baby’s clothes, including home-made knits and a selection of clothes popular through the decades.

8 At the Queen’s Gallery at the Palace of Holyroodhouse you can see the exhibition Russia: Royalty and the Romanovs which examines the relationship between Britain and Russia and their royal families, through more than 170 works of art in the Royal Collection.

18 At the Palace of Holyroodhouse there is an exhibition of the Royal Wedding outfits worn by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their wedding day last year. You can also see the outfits worn by Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte. Entry to the exhibition is included in the palace entrance ticket.

21 Live at the Longlist is the special live event around the Scottish Album of the Year and it is taking place at the Queen’s Hall. It will be hosted by Vic Galloway and Nicola Meighan and there will be live performances by C Duncan among others. Winners of the SAY award will be announced on the night.

22 Victoria Crowe’s retrospective exhibition shows her work over the last half century. There are landscapes to enjoy alongside portraits. The extensive collection is shown over six galleries in the City Art Centre on Market Street.

29 Museum of Edinburgh. Past Lives of Leith runs until 6 October 2019. Visitors to the Museum of Edinburgh can explore the results of the largest excavation of a medieval graveyard undertaken in Edinburgh. “Past Lives of Leith”, which delves into the fascinating work carried out by experts from Headland Archaeology and the City of Edinburgh Council outside Leith Parish Church.

30 Edinburgh Art Festival is the major platform for the visual arts as part of Edinburgh’s world-famous August festival season.
