An Edinburgh legal firm has moved into a new larger office in Dock Street Leith.

The move will provide an expanded base for its two entities, Watermans Solicitors and Watermans Legal. The firm has expanded across both its Edinburgh and Glasgow offices with 12 new hires already in 2019, taking the total staff in the business to 52.

Watermans Solicitors are one of Scotland’s leading personal injury specialists, acting for thousands of clients who have been injured in Scotland each year. Watermans Legal (formerly Wright & Co) provide expert legal advice spanning from family law, estate agency and residential conveyancing to commercial law, wills, executries and Power of Attorney and notarial services.

Managing Director Scott Whyte highlighted the move as reflecting the firm’s continued success on behalf of clients and ability to attract legal talent.

He said: “We have been on an exciting journey over the last few years, which has seen us cement our place in Scotland’s legal landscape.  We have diversified and expanded the range of legal services we can provide and consistently deliver for clients in all of our areas of expertise.

“Having a new and bigger physical presence in Edinburgh is about putting an infrastructure in place that can support the growth we continue to achieve. This year has already seen us create new roles and make a number of significant hires, underlining our strong position and ability to attract the best talent across all the areas we operate in.

“Almost all of us will need legal advice and support at different points in our lives. Whether it is buying or selling a property, seeking expertise on a challenging commercial issue, navigating the complexities of family law or recovering from a personal injury, the right legal advice is absolutely crucial. At Watermans, we are here when people need us the most.”

As Watermans has grown, so has the firm’s wider community involvement. Earlier this month, multiple British youth champion motorcyclist Rory Skinner was named as the latest Watermans Sports Ambassador following a nationwide campaign which saw fans nominate over two dozen unsung Scottish sports heroes. Rory joins Scottish rally star Finlay Retson, who is being supported by Watermans in his 2019 Junior BRC campaign.

Watermans Solicitors also recently launched a joint initiative with Scotland Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), creating a donation programme which will provide ongoing support to both SCAA and Scotland’s motorcycle community.

For every successful motorbike personal injury compensation claims that Watermans pursue on behalf of someone who has been injured while out on their bike, the legal firm will make a donation to SCAA.  Watermans are supporters of the TCCL Lodge in St Andrews, a holiday home in St Andrews which is available free of charge to families affected by childhood cancer and leukaemia.
