Scene Taiwan Film Festival 2019 – at Summerhall this weekend
One of the biggest social movements in Taiwanese history took place in 2014. A group of young people stood up against the ruling government for passing the Cross-Strait Service Trading Agreement which may harm Taiwanese economy and leave it politically vulnerable to the PRC government.
A Chinese student political blogger in Taiwan, a Taiwanese student movement leader and a Malaysian born political fanatics documentary filmmaker were all involved in this history-making event. This is a story about how they put aside the conflicts between each other, and worked together to win this fight and realise their goals.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A session, joined by the film director Fu-Yue, and Director-general of Taipei Office Edinburgh.
