Lothians MSP backs Marie Curie call

Jeremy Balfour MSP lent his support to help improve the lives of people in Scotland living with terminal illness.

Meeting with representatives from Marie Curie at the recent Scottish Conservative Conference in Aberdeen, Jeremy was keen to hear about the efforts Marie Curie are making to ensure that everyone should get the care and support they need at the end of life.

Marie Curie supports over 8,600 people in Scotland last year through their hospices, nursing care and support
services. Every five minutes someone dies without the care they need, often missing out on care because they have a condition other than terminal cancer such as organ failure or Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease and frailty.

Mr Balfour said : “I have always supported the work of Marie Curie and the invaluable work they do to improve the lives of those living with a terminal illness or approaching the end of their life.

Susan Brown, Marie Curie said: “Thank you to Jeremy for supporting our call that everyone should get the care and support they need at the end of their life, regardless of their condition.”
