CRAIG Cook promised success-hungry Glasgow Tigers fans: “The best is yet to come.”

The 31-year-old is determined to regain the British title and track one again in the Grand Prix.

And the Cumbrian-born racer is focused on maintaining his near perfect record at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium today (SUN, 5.00pm).

That’s when one of his former clubs, Edinburgh Monarchs, are due to visit in the Championship Shield.

Cook has only lost one race at Ashfield since joining Glasgow last July after a serious injury to Lewis Kerr.

He was disappointed that Friday’s scheduled Championship Shield clash between Edinburgh and arch rivals Glasgow was postponed after heavy rain.

A restaging has not been agreed, but it’s not an easy issue to resolve as both teams now race on a Friday night.

Alex Harkess, Monarchs’ co-promoter, admitted: “None of the riders wanted to race. Both teams agreed.

“When you walked on it (the track) you could understand, the rain had done its damage.”

Cook said: “I’ve joined a club (Glasgow) with the same mentality as me, they want to be winners.

“Glasgow are giving me the platform to be more successful and I want to regain my British Championship and Grand Prix place.”

Cook, nicknamed The Cookie Monster, added: “I believe that my UK base at Glasgow can help me go to the highest level I have ever been in the sport. The best is yet to come.”
