Ocean Terminal which is about to be renamed Porta, has unveiled Scotland’s most outsize indoor Easter egg hunt, as part of its calendar of Easter activities for families visiting the centre.

Six giant eggs each measuring 1.5m high with bespoke designs have been placed throughout the centre in the countdown to the Easter weekend and will be on display until Monday 22n April.

The fibreglass creations feature Easter bunnies, majestic unicorns, dinosaurs, snakes, chicks and daffodils and were designed by Emily Martinelli and Emma Brierley from local company Make a Scene Ltd. Specially commissioned by Ocean Terminal, the designs aim to provide a colourful, interactive focal point for families on shopping trips over the next few weeks.

Visitors will be encouraged to participate in a trail, which explores the whole centre, with children encouraged to touch the eggs as they pass. Each has a unique, fabulous sensory element reflecting some of the latest fashions available in Ocean Terminal’s stores, from faux fur to reversible sequins. Trail forms can be collected from the Customer Service Desk and once completed, participants will be rewarded with a chocolate egg.

Suzy Enoch, Director of Make a Scene Ltd, has worked with Ocean Terminal on various projects said:“People are always telling children not to touch things, so when we had our brainstorm with the team we wanted to create something completely different so that the children are actually allowed and positively encouraged to touch the giant eggs.”

Another new addition for the holidays includes the arrival of the Blossom Globe, a 4.5m clear inflatable globe filled with petals, which aims to celebrate spring. Children and families will be able to enter the globe and experience the spring petals whirling around them and have their photo taken amongst the petals.

Also returning in time for Easter are Ocean Terminal’s dinosaurs, including the famous T-rex, Triceratops, Pteranodon and Kentrosaurus. The prehistoric animatronic favourites will be taking over all three floors of the centre. They roar, they move, they breathe, but fingers-crossed they won’t bite. This will be the dinos’ third visit to Ocean Terminal and they are always a hit with children and adults alike.

Finally, Fizzle Wizzle Events will be setting up shop during the half term holidays, hosting various arts and crafts activities, as well as a unique silent disco tour. This will be the first ever silent disco to be held in the centre. Visitors will be able to join in, cutting shapes and showing off their best moves around the mall, whilst listening to tunes only they can hear. Recommended for ages 4 – 104, the 30 minute disco tour is designed to get everyone’s toes tapping as onlookers see others getting in the groove.

Michelle MacLeod, Deputy Centre Manager said: “Easter is such an egg-citing time and whether the sun is shining or not, there is plenty of action under one roof at Ocean Terminal for all the family.

“The dinosaurs have been extremely popular, and we really hope everyone enjoys the giant eggs and our new interactive Easter egg hunt, as well as the silent disco. We have pulled out all the stops to ensure there is no time for the kids to get bored during the holidays, alongside our fantastic mix of retail and leisure experiences there is something for everyone.”

Easter activities continue during April through to 22 April 2019. Entry to the egg trail and dinosaur experience is free. The silent disco tour costs £4 per person. For information on Ocean Terminal or the Easter activities planned, please visit www.oceanterminal.com.
