Graze owner is off to pastures new
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold Graze on Grassmarket, a sandwich shop and café situated in Edinburgh’s famous Old Town, to an experienced local operator.
The café, which provides seating for 10 covers inside and 10 outside, predominantly caters to ‘on the go’ customers, offering light bites and drinks, ideal for those passing by in the bustling area. Sitting in a prime position on Grassmarket, a vibrant and historic marketplace within the city’s Old Town, the business captures a high level of footfall from tourists drawn to the area. Millions of visitors are attracted to the Old Town in the city centre every year, with its variety of shops, bars and cultural hotspots, including the famous Edinburgh Castle.
Having been successfully run by the previous owner, Helen Fergie, for four years, Graze on Grassmarket has built up an excellent reputation, achieving positive online reviews and repeat custom. She decided to sell the business in order to focus on other business commitments.
New owner, Rouein Hajirpirlou has a family business which currently operates two other sites in Edinburgh, Miros Cantina on Rose Street and The Castle Arms on Johnston Terrace. With plenty of experience in the sector, Mr Hajirpirlou plans to continue the successful operation of the business as a sandwich deli shop, with a view to introducing a street food menu in the future.
Tony Spence, Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, “This is a great business in a prominent location within Edinburgh City Centre and as expected, Graze on Grassmarket generated a huge amount of interest from the outset, culminating in a successful sale to an experienced local buyer. We are delighted to have a achieved this sale on behalf of Helen and wish Rouein and his family the best in taking over this business, which we are sure will be a success like their others.
“Demand within Edinburgh for similar businesses, with a strong offering and good location, remains high as the city continues to grow, with both tourist and corporate trade increasing demand.”
The leasehold interest of Graze on Grassmarket was sold off an asking price of £100,000.
