Law firm offers more to their clients in East Lothian

An Edinburgh law firm has appointed a dedicated family lawyer and a financial adviser in their East Lothian office.

Gilson Gray’s office in North Berwick will have a dedicated expert in family law available to offer advice, after recognising the need for a personal and professional service in the area.  Similarly, the office will also benefit from a dedicated financial adviser specialising in retirement, investment and estate planning.

Shona Young and Sandra Robertson will be available at the office at 33 Westgate, meaning that locals do not have to travel into Edinburgh for legal advice.

The move underlines the strength and success of Gilson Gray’s family law team, which has been nominated as finalists in the upcoming Scottish Law Awards, and the capability of its financial services operation.

Dorothy Kellas, Partner who heads up Gilson Gray’s East Lothian office, said: “To offer award-winning family law advice, and financial services capabilities from our office is a real feather in our cap.

“We know from years of experience that some people prefer not to make the journey into Edinburgh for this so we’re delighted to be able to provide it here.

“It’s a natural fit for us as we’re already dealing with wills and other family matters so having Shona and Sandra here complements our service perfectly.

“People like to speak to our locally-based team and it’s a real starting point for us to further grow the business throughout East Lothian.”

Gilson Gray believes in doing things differently from the industry norms and took over the North Berwick operation of law firm Lindsays in May last year.

The move underlines the firm’s commitment to becoming the best law firm in Scotland with the ability to serve both business and local communities across the country.

Philippa Cunniff, Partner, Head of Family Law there, said: “Since our family law team was established in May 2017, we’ve gone from strength to strength.

“This expansion into East Lothian demonstrates this and I’m proud that we’re able to meet the needs of locals and provide this service on their doorstep.”

Gilson Gray claimed to be the largest full service law firm launch in Scottish legal history in 2014 when it opened simultaneously in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
