Garuccio injury blow for Hearts

In
a season full of injury woes, Hearts were dealt another bad hand yesterday when
it was revealed that left back Ben Garuccio has torn his cruciate ligament
during training and will be out for the next ten months.

The
Australian defender has only made sporadic appearances in the Hearts first team
this season, but his long-term absence is a blow, nevertheless. Hearts manager
Craig Levein told the official Hearts website:

“We had a bit of bad news yesterday. Ben
Garuccio has torn his cruciate in training, so he’ll be out for ten months or
so. His foot got caught in the turf and twisted, just a complete accident.
It’s not good news.”

Levein admitted he was looking forward to Saturday’s
Ladbrokes Premiership game with Aberdeen at Tynecastle.

“It’s a different occasion on Saturday. We’re at home and there’ll be a big crowd – Aberdeen always bring a fairly large support with them – and I think it’ll be a smashing game.”
