Thrill Festival – Jazz at St Bride’s

A great time was had by all last Friday and Saturday at St Bride’s Community Centre where the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival brought along a couple of great bands to liven up cold February nights.

Roger Spence, Producer, Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival said : “The Thrill Festival turned out to be an extraordinary triumph for Jazz From Brussels, and a brilliant way to launch Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival’s new concert venue at St Brides’ Centre.

“The Belgian musicians showed us not only what a fantastic jazz scene they have in Brussels, with 12 visiting groups of the highest quality, but also how much they loved being in Edinburgh, and interacting with Scottish musicians and EJBF volunteers and organisers. We’re sure this is the start of a long term jazz relationship between Edinburgh and Brussels.”

Cllr Denis Dixon told us he was at the concert on Saturday evening along with fellow Ward councillor Cathy Fullerton. He told us : “This was a superb concert featuring two bands, one Belgian and one Scottish. It was a very good evening and it was great to see the venue in full swing, being used as it should be for concerts and culture. It was very well attended and just great to have the Jazz Festival at St Bride’s.”

The Blues Festival is next on the weekend of 22 February 2019. More information here.

Thrill Festival from 7-9 February presented eleven concerts presenting the best of the Brussels jazz scene in iconic Edinburgh venues – The Queen’s Hall, The Jazz Bar, St Bride’s Centre and on the High Street.
