Speedway – volunteers needed by Monarchs

Edinburgh Monarchs are looking for volunteers to fill key positions on match nights at Armadale.

Top of the list is a machine examiner. This is a Speedway Control Board licensed position and one of the most important.

The accepted candidate will get into the heart of the action in the pits on racenight working closely with riders and mechanics.

A Monarchs spokesman said: “It would be good if any interested party had a knowledge of motorcycles and how they work although we will offer training to anyone taking on the position.

“Next we are looking for an electrician to be on standby throughout the meeting.

“We are also keen to find someone to join our live updating team. This would be an occasional role, standing in when the regular team are not available.

“A knowledge of how to operate a computer would be advantageous although full training will be given.”

The club also need help in their car parks to position vehicles in an appropriate place so that as many as possible can be fitted into the space available.

The volunteer would have to be available from as close to 6.00pm as possible although the job will be finished by 7.30pm.

The position of matchday experience co-ordinator is available. This entails meeting and greeting the many guests who come to the stadium and ensuring they have the best possible time while there as well as co-ordinating some of the additional spectator activities that take place on race nights.

The spokesman added: “We are also looking for someone to help on our commercial side in obtaining advertisements for our match magazine, air fence and generally throughout the stadium and in hospitality.”

If you are interested in any of these positions then send an email to info@edinburghmonarchs.co.uk stating your choice of position.
