Ice hockey – Racers secure deal to stay at Murrayfield

Murrayfield Racers have secured their future at the Capital ice rink but the club have yet to decide which league to enter next season.

It will not be the 11-strong Elite League, Britain’s leading professional ice hockey league.

Racers currently ice in the amateur Scottish National League and are unbeaten in all competitions.

They have also competed in the National Ice Hockey League, North Cup and have only won one game, a 4-1 victory over Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday.

A Racers spokesman said: “We don’t know what league or how many games there are going to be, but as soon as we know that we’ll sign a contract with the rink and that gives us security going forward.”
