Lothian’s new buses will carry 100 passengers

Lothian have shown off their new double decker buses which they hope to put into service in early 2019.

The 100 seat Enviro400XLB three axle double decker is a UK first, and the company says the design has been developed with Alexander Dennis Limited who build them and chassis manufacturer Volvo.

The latest model is fitted with Euro 6 technology and will offer more capacity on busy routes. There will be front and middle doors for the first time since 2009. It is hoped this alone will speed up journey times and ease congestion.

All the features which were rolled out on the Number 22 service when it was unveiled in 2016 will be continued. So you can still expect the high backed seating which improves passenger privacy, WiFi, USB charging and audiovisual stop announcements.
