Boxing – Taylor continues winning run

Josh Taylor stopped American Ryan Martin to book a super-lightweight title shot against IBF champion Ivan Baranchyk in the World Boxing Super Series semi-final.

The 27-year-old, Lothians-based fighter dominated the contest in Glasgow to extend his winning run to 14 fights.

It was Martin’s first defeat in 23 outings and he lasted only seven rounds against the stylish Scot from Prestonpans.

A series of head shots and a sustained attack forced referee Victor Loughran to step in.

Then, the 6,000 fans started to celebrate.
