Martin Boyle named in the Australia squad for training camp in UAE
Hibs’ winger Martin Boyle has been named in the Australia squad for the upcoming training camp in the United Arab Emirates.
Team mate Mark Milligan who has 71 caps is also in the Socceroos’ squad.
Boyle who qualifies to play for the nation due to his Sydney-born father told Hibernian Media: “I am delighted to be named in the Australia squad for the next international training camp, it’s a proud moment for me and my family.
“The national team manager visited the training centre and he spoke with me about my eligibility and he was keen to bring me into the squad and I was keen to be involved.
“Milly (Mark Milligan) and Jamie (MacLaren) have both spoken to me about the squad and I’m really excited to be heading across with the team.
“It’s a talented group of players that I will be joining up with, so I know I will need to go in and prove myself to the manager. I’m prepared to work hard to show why he wanted me to be involved.
“Just now, my main focus is on Hamilton at the weekend and helping the team to three points, but once that is done and dusted I’ll be excited to join up with the national team and be involved in training.
“It will be a new experience for me, but with plenty of experienced players in there I am sure they will help me bed into the new environment and I can’t wait to pull on the gold jersey for the first time.”
The call-ups of Boyle and Milligan are in addition to that of Thomas Agyepong for Ghana, Ryan Porteous, Stevie Mallan and Oli Shaw for Scotland under-21s and Daryl Horgan being named in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad.
