Hibs need help from Spartans to lift the SWPL title

Hibs go into the last league game of the season, knowing that a defeat for Glasgow City at the hands of Spartans, coupled with victory against over by an adequate enough scoreline would see Hibernian lift the league trophy at the full-time whistle.

Glasgow City are huge favourites to lift the trophy after last weekend’s narrow win but the Hibs’ players are not giving up hope ahead of the games.

Looking ahead to the game Rachel McLauchlan told Hibernian Media: “Everyone is looking forward to getting back on the pitch again after a disappointing game last weekend.

“The team have got back into training this week with all thoughts focusing on Sunday as we know Rangers will be a tough game and we want to finish the league with a win.”

Head Coach Grant Scott  said, “With Rangers on the back of two victories in their last two matches we expect to face a side high in confidence. We’ve had a couple of tight matches with rangers this season and must rise to the challenge again this Sunday.

“Naturally, as a group we were disappointed not just by the result last week but mainly by our overall performance. The reaction from the players during the week however, has been terrific and I believe we’ll be ready come Sunday.

“The destination of the league title isn’t mathematically decided and we know that we are relying on events elsewhere, we won’t give up until the very end and are looking to secure the points and see where that takes us.”
