Grant Murray frustrated at Hibs’ mini-derby defeat
Grant Murray was left frustrated by the performance from the Hibs’ Development Squad as they lost the second derby match of the SPFL Reserve League season.
Free-kicks from Oliver Bozanic and Ben Garuccio either side of half-time earned the win for Hearts Reserves.
He told Hibernian TV: “I’m obviously very disappointed that we lost the game. In the first half we were well in the game and went into the break 1-0 down from a free-kick.
“We said to them that they would get themselves back into the game if they played like they did in the first half, but we came out and lost a goal early.
“We were trying to play in the wrong area of the pitch and gave a free-kick away and then 2-0 down. After that, I felt our heads went down.
“We didn’t have enough character about us really to get back into the game. There were a couple of half chances and you are hoping that you are going to take them, but it just wasn’t our day.
“They’ve got to implement the lessons learned from the defeat against Partick. Football is what it is and it comes week in, week out. You have got to adapt to the criticism when you get it, they certainly got that today, but they need to go and step it up again.
“The players now have to work hard in training and they will get their rewards when they work hard, which is developing themselves and earning good results.”
The squad’s next match is away to Partick Thistle in the SPFL Reserve Cup, with the game taking place at Lesser Hampden at 2pm next Monday.
