Watsonians face a key battle with city rivals Edinburgh University when the sides clash at Peffermill tonight (FRI, 7.30pm) in a Division One fixture.

The newly-promoted side have not picked up a point after two games in Scotland’s top league and have shipped eight goals and scored four.

The students are third in the ten-strong table with three points having won their opening clash, thrashing the other promoted club, Aberdeen Standard, 7-0 in the Granite City on September 15.

Traditionally, Edinburgh are vulnerable early-season as they re-build again after departures due to the end of academic programmes.

That’s why Watsonians must make an impact after a 4-2 defeat at Uddingston earlier this month followed by a 4-2 home defeat at Meggetland to Dundee-based Grove Menzieshill.
