At the King’s Theatre 16-20 April 2019.  Directed by Sarah Esdaile.

Re-awaken retro fondu memories as domestic hostesses turn desperate harpies. Cheesy becomes sleazy as semi-detached social mores become ever more fractured and raw in this classic fashion-tortured 70s domestic comedy nightmare of unravelling maddening manners. A G-Plan themed excruciating painfully slipped-disco runs disfunctional riot where Hell’s Angel Delight is washed down with tipples of hubble-bubbbly Babyshambles.

Jodie Prenger leads the cast in Abigail’s Party, Mike Leigh’s groundbreaking comedy classic which begins a major UK tour in Brighton on 10 January 2019 and tours until 20 April 2019 in Edinburgh.

Beverly and her husband Laurence are throwing a party for their newlywed neighbours, Tony and Angela.  Joining them is highly strung Susan who’s been banished from the party of her teenage daughter Abigail. Welcome to 1970’s suburbia and its heady mix of free-flowing cocktails, classic disco and cheese and pineapple sticks.  As tensions rise and tempers flare the sheen of respectability is torn away by the warring couples with hilarious and potentially disastrous consequences.
