Speedway – Tigers rough up Diamonds
SGB Championship: Newcastle Diamonds 35, Glasgow Tigers 54
Glasgow Tigers comfortably earned their first road win to boost their play-off chances and increase the pressure on Edinburgh Monarchs.
Tigers roughed up home side Newcastle Diamonds and secured the points with a late surge.
The visitors won Heats 12, 13, 14 and 15 by 5-1 scorelines to put the match to bed at 54-35.
Newcomer Craig Cook, a former Edinburgh Monarchs skipper, believes the ambitious club still need another away win to secure a top-four place.
Cook top scored with 14 points from five rides and said he booted the boys up the backside for the meeting.
And he added: “I’m very passionate for this club to get into the play-offs. I know how passionate the Glasgow fans, the management and everyone around the club is.
“I’ve never been a part of something so professional and Newcastle was a must-win for us.”
Former Tigers skipper Aaron Summers, currently with Berwick Bandits, was called in as a guest for Claus Vissing who is riding for Denmark.
And he claimed ten valuable points, the same as Chris Harris, Paul Starke and James Sarjeant.
