Jamie MacLaren believes that Hibs are the best club for his career to kick on

Jamie MacLaren is delighted to be back at Easter Road and he believes that Hibs are the best club for his career to kick on.

The Australian joined on-loan for the season after spending the second half of the last campaign at Easter Road where his performances and goals secured a trip to the World Cup in Russia.

He ended the season with a memorable hat-trick against Rangers and made no secret of the fact that Leith was his preferred option and after weeks of negotiation and speculation, the news that the Hibs’ fans wanted to hear came true on Friday.

He was listed amongst the substitutes for yesterday’s game against Motherwell but came on with 25 minutes remaining and almost scored after latching onto a superb pass from Oli Shaw only for ‘Well keeper Trevor Carson who palm the ball away.

MacLaren told Hibernian Media. “A few factors drove me to come back. With the success that we had last season it just breeds confidence throughout the squad and, for me, scoring goals was important.

“After having the World Cup experience I want to kick on. This is the best club for me to be at to kick on.

“I think having a manager like Neil Lennon who backs me and every player in the squad, that’s who you want to play for. And the fans have also been on at me on social media since the break, so it’s nice to be wanted and valued.

“I’m just glad I’m here.”
