Colin McGregor opened the Tattoo with a poem – and brother Ewan came too

Special guest and ex-RAF pilot Colin McGregor opened the show at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo last night with moving poem ‘High Flight’ – a special tribute to the late servicemen and women of the RAF.

Colin was joined in the Royal Gallery at Edinburgh Castle by brother Ewan McGregor to watch this year’s spectacle, ‘The Sky’s the Limit’, which is a special celebration of the RAF centenary and Scotland’s Year of Young People.

The McGregor brothers came together earlier this year to present BBC One documentary ‘RAF at 100’ as part of RAF 100 events.

This year, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has welcomed more than 1,200 international performers to participate in its 69th show. It will take audiences on an incredible journey from the beginning of life on earth, through to human evolution and mankind’s greatest achievements, including space travel.
