Edinburgh Monarchs continued their regal home form when they shot down Workington Comets, one of the fancied teams in the SGB Championship.

The home side only lost one heat and Monarchs racers piled on the points in the thumping 65-25 victory to the delight of the Armadale faithful.

Monarchs were out of sight at 36-12 after only eight races.
Captain Erik Riss and Glasgow Tigers reject Richie Worrall both claimed four-ride maximums.

And Victor Palovaara had one of the best nights in his career when he won four of his five starts for 13 points.

Comets leading scorer was Nicolai Klindt with nine points including the visitors solitary victory in the final race, beating former Workington star Ricky Wells and Palovaara to take the flag.

Craig Cook powered to a 15-point maximum on his return to Glasgow Tigers after Grand Prix duty.

And he was backed by 12 points from former Grand Prix racer Chris Harris, Glasgow’s captain.

James Sarjeant collected ten points in a convincing victory over Newcastle Diamonds.

The home side were 32-16 ahead after eight racers and kept on the power to win 58-32.

Former Edinburgh Monarchs captain Matthew Wethers was best for Newcastle with 11 points followed by evergreen Stuart Robson on ten points.
