Max Ruml believes he needed to prove his worth against some useful Championship-level opposition.

And he did that in style with a convincing victory in the Caledonian Riders’ Championship.

The American said: “Coming into this meeting I hadn’t been scoring big points at Armadale.

“I made some good times and good starts, gained come confidence and I feel it will do a lot for me in the weeks to come.”

He added: “It will be one to remember, my first trophy in Great Britain.”

Ruml was third in a tough opening race but dominated his three remaining qualifiers followed by the semi-final and final.

He didn’t just win these last five heats, he absolutely owned them and there was never any doubt about the outcome of any of his heats.
