Speedway – Edinburgh Monarchs looking to Palovarra for points
Victor Palovarra has scored around eight points in nearly every meeting in Poland.
And Edinburgh Monarchs hope the 24-year-old newcomer can reproduce that form when he makes his debut against Berwick Bandits on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm).
The Swede will use borrowed equipment for this Knockout Cup quarter-final as his bikes won’t get to Armadale on time. Edinburgh skipper Erik Riss is sorting that out.
But the former Glasgow Tigers star is determined to succeed in a Monarchs race jacket.
That’s after several failed attempts to join the club in previous seasons despite being recommended to the West Lothian-based club by former favourite Robert Eriksson.
Palovarra said: “I’ve been riding quite well in Poland and I have scored eight, nine points every meeting apart from the last one.
“I’ve done well in the Allsvenskan League and sometimes in the Elite League.”
He added: “I’ve just packed a box with my machines to be sent over.
“It takes a week to get them over. I’ve met everyone before and heard it’s a good group of guys.”
