Royal Highland Show chair tries out the best cheese sandwich
RHASS Chairman, Jimmy Warnock, had the best job at the show. He was asked to sample a taste of what could possibly be Scotland’s Best Cheese Sandwich at this year’s Royal Highland Show on Friday.
The Royal Highland Show, supported by The Royal Bank of Scotland, is Scotland’s largest agricultural event, and the chosen venue for the Scottish Championships in the bread, butter and cheese categories.
On Friday afternoon in the Scotland’s Larder Live! cookery theatre, Jimmy was presented with the ‘Champion’ sandwich, made from a sourdough bread from Woodlea Stables bakery in Fife, a cheddar cheese made from Ayrshire milk from The Inverloch Cheese Company and Churned Jersey salted butter from Graham’s the Family Dairy.
Commenting on the task, Jimmy said : “It is brilliant to see such incredible food being produced in Scotland, and an absolute pleasure to taste the winning products. On behalf of RHASS, I want to offer my congratulations to all the competitors for making this an exceptional year for locally produced food.
“The Royal Highland Show is the leading event for showcasing the very best farming, rural life and food and drink from Scotland, and it extremely rewarding that the industry continues to recognise its importance as a platform for the sector. It gives me great confidence in the future of our industry.”
