Family fun for the Ross Fountain switch on
Although we could probably do with it working right now in this week’s heatwave, there is not long to wait until the Ross Fountain starts flowing again.
A family fun day is planned to celebrate the formal switch on in West Princes Street Gardens on 8 July 2018
Entertainment will include a bouncy castle, face painters, street performers and stilt-walkers. The event, which will be free, is being staged by The Ross Development Trust. It will have a Victorian theme linking back to the fountain’s origin and will also feature cartoonist Scot Walker who will create an art wall inviting families to help complete it.
The event will be attended by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost and will be hosted by the one and only Grant Stott. It will start at noon ending at 4pm.
The official ‘switch on’ will be at 1pm when a group of children will turn an oversized tap to on allowing water to flow through the fountain for the first time since 2001.
