Edinburgh Monarchs take a slender two-point lead into Sunday’s (3pm) Knockout Cup, first round, second-leg, against arch rivals Glasgow Tigers at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.
That follows a see-saw battle at Armadale on Friday when Edinburgh were six points adrift after five heats and then six points ahead seven heats later.
Battling Glasgow hit back with a 5-1 in the second last race when comeback man Paul Starke, who has missed recent meetings because of injury, won the race with Reserve rider James Sarjeant in second place.
That made the score 43-41 in favour of Monarchs going into the final race but former Grand Prix star Chris Harris fell before team-mate Richie Worrall took the win.
Harris disappointed with six points but red-hot Worrall top scored with 13 points for Tigers.
Ricky Wells was best for the home side with 12 points while captain Erik Riss collected 11 and his brother Mark ten points with debutant Coty Garcia chipping in with three points.
