Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to trace in connection with a serious assault and attempted robbery which took place around 9.30pm on Wednesday 2nd May at the USave shop on Elm Row.

Two men aged 64 and 54 were working within when a male entered and presented a weapon before attempting to steal money. The man pictured is believed to have information which could assist police with their enquires and anyone who can help in identifying him is asked to come forward.

He is described as white, in his 20s or 30s, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall with a slim to average build and wearing a grey baseball cap, grey hooded jumper, light jeans and dark footwear.

Detective Constable John Dunn of Gayfield CID said, “This was a violent attack on two shopkeepers who acted with bravery to prevent anything being stolen and our enquiries into this incident continue.

“As part of this, we are keen to identify the man in the CCTV footage and would urge him, or anyone who recognises him, to get in touch with us immediately.”
