Ponies joined neighbours in the care home celebrations

Colinton care home invited the local community for a day of celebrations and the visitors included some friendly miniature ponies.

The Care UK team at Cairdean House on Redford Road welcomed guests during a countrywide initiative to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities.

The initiative was also designed to dispel common myths about care home life.

Miniature ponies from Therapy Ponies Scotland made an appearance and there was a live performance from local singer, Scott Neil, and Cairdean House’s own singing group.

Younger guests enjoyed face painting, a bouncy castle and goodie bags.

Gillian Goodall, home manager at Cairdean House, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon and it was also a celebration of our fifth anniversary. The residents also really enjoyed celebrating the Queen’s 92nd birthday.

“The Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like and it was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours come along.”
