Grange ended Bromac Kelburne’s 13-year stranglehold on the men’s Division One hockey title.
They took the silverware on goal difference from the Paisley combine who drew 3-3 with Uddingston.
And the drama was a repeat of last season when Grange lost at home to Western and were pipped for the title by Kelburne.
Five yellow cards were shown at Bothwell Castle in the six-goal thriller and it took a last minute penalty corner strike by Uddingston`s Steven Percy to deny Kelburne a 14th straight title.
Grange took full advantage of Kelburne’s final-day slip-up to beat already-relegated Inverleith 5-0 and win their first title since 2002.
Grange led 2-0 at the interval through penalty corner conversions by Luke Cranney and Michael McKenzie.
They confirmed their superiority with further strikes by James Nairn, Cammie Fraser and Callum McKenzie.
Edinburgh University retained the women`s National League title with a 3-1 win at Western Wildcats.
