Grange coach David Knipe is now playing catch-up as the Edinburgh club bid to grab the Division One title from holders Bromac Kelburne.

The Paisley-based club leapfrogged Grange to the top of the ten-strong division after their 3-0 home win over Dundee Wanderers last Saturday.

They have 32 points from 13 games while Grange have 31 from the same number of fixtures.

Knipe was disappointed that his men had failed to up their conversion rate after being awarded eight penalty corners in a 1-1 draw with Western at Fettes last Saturday.

The hosts also missed several chances and Knipe said: “You can’t win hockey games if you don’t take chances.”

Grange can atone with a road win on Saturday at Glasgow’s National Hockey Centre (13.30).

Elsewhere, fourth-placed Western host Clydesdale, who are a place and eight points behind them, at Auchenhowie.

Clydesdale are, however, fresh from knocking out Kelburne in Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final after a penalty shootout.

Eighth-placed Uddingston host Hillhead (noon) in a key basement cash with the Lanarkshire side on ten points from 12 games and the Glasgow combine a point behind but with one game less played.

Edinburgh University, who have slipped to sixth, entertain seventh-placed Dundee Wanderers, who are only two points behind them, at Peffermill.

Grove Menzieshill host bottom club Inverleith (16.00) at the Dundee International Sports Centre. Inverleith have two points and are seven adrift of second-bottom Hillhead.
